- 本堂是香港「基督教中國佈道會」的會員堂會之一。「中國佈道會」是中國名佈道家計志文牧師於1947年於上海創立。 在1987年香港迦南堂約二十位信徒被差往沙田植堂，早期於李兆康長老家中聚會，於1988年4月轉往大圍田心村建立教會。有見區內雙職父母及其在學子女極需要高質素的課餘託管服務需要，會眾亦同心領受「服侍鄰舍，見證基督」的異象，故積極探討為區內學童提供服務的可能性。 蒙神恩典，本堂獲得房屋署批准以社區服務形式，租用新翠邨新明樓現址開辦學生發展中心，並獲得白普理基金慷慨贊助全數約一百三十萬元的開辦費。最後，中心於1991年1月正式啟用，命名為「基督教中國佈道會沙田迦南堂白普理學生發展中心」，迄今服務社區接近三十年。 1994年7月，教會自立為「基督教中國佈道會沙田迦南堂」。 本堂開辦的「白普理學生發展中心」屬於非政府資助的機構，根據《稅務條例》第88條已獲豁免繳稅的慈善團體。1997年更成為公益金會員機構，並於2000年成為香港社會服務聯會會員。 我們的使命 藉著神的話語和大能，在本港建立一間結合敬拜、教導、牧養、門訓、宣教五方面平衡發展及健康而強壯的教會。
