About the organisation
Ever since its establishment in 1980, the Cantonese Opera Academy (COA) of Hong Kong has always borne the mission of inheriting and passing on the art and culture of Cantonese Opera. With an art direction rooted in skill excellence and characteristics of traditional Cantonese Opera, the COA has encouraged innovation and development based on tradition. The goal is to nurture new generations of actors and backstage staff for the industry. Under the precise leadership of Dr Liza Wang, Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, the Academyhas determined to reform. Nowadays, our main roles include nurturing the new generations, professional training, and popularizing Cantonese Opera education.
