A plain-language summary of what's new on Charity Finder. Recent updates appear by date; older history is grouped from our public release notes.

  1. Claim and manage your charity listing

    • Representatives can claim a charity listing with a registration certificate and email verification.
    • Once approved, approved owners can update profile details and documents for their organisation.
    • Charity pages show when a listing has been claimed, with a clear path to claim or manage access.
  2. Clearer map when charities share a location

    • The map groups organisations at the same coordinates into one marker and lists them in the popup, so overlapping pins are easier to browse.
  3. Public changelog, suggestions, and account recovery

    • Added this Changelog page (linked from the footer) so you can see what’s new.
    • Suggesting a change to a charity listing is more reliable, including when you attach supporting files.
    • The login page includes a “Forgot password?” path so you can reset access more easily.
  4. Faster pages across the site

    • The directory, charity pages, map, compare view, and sitemap load more quickly for everyday browsing.
    • Star ratings on charity pages load more smoothly.
  5. Richer profiles and easier navigation

    • Charity profiles can show Chinese descriptions, WhatsApp contact links, and newsletter sign-up links when available.
    • Keyboard users can skip straight to the main content with a skip link.
    • Clearer loading states while charity, compare, and map pages fetch their data.
    • Old charity links continue to resolve to the right organisation where possible.
  6. Better visibility in search engines

    • Improved how charity pages and guides appear in search results, including structured information for search engines.
  7. Privacy, terms, and attribution

    • Added a Privacy & Terms page, linked from the footer.
    • Footer now credits the Foundation for Shared Impact.
  8. Analytics sections and charity structures guide

    • Analytics is organised into clearer topic sections so you can explore sector data more easily.
    • New guide on charity structures (how organisations are legally set up).
  9. Website updates and Chinese display names

    • Charity pages can show recent website updates via RSS when a feed is available.
    • Chinese display names are better supported in search and listings.
    • Newsletter URLs can appear on profiles when we have them.
  10. IRD Updates and delisted charities

    • New IRD Updates page showing recent changes from Hong Kong’s Inland Revenue Department charity list.
    • New Delisted page for organisations that are no longer on the Section 88 list.
    • Charity pages note IRD listing status more clearly, and empty financial or impact sections stay hidden when there is nothing to show.
    • Analytics now distinguishes active and delisted charities.
  11. Impact reports and analytics charts

    • Impact reports on charity pages are easier to browse.
    • Analytics category charts and related views are clearer.
  12. Deeper profiles and mobile polish

    • Profiles can note Community Chest membership, board directors (with links into the directory), and clearer year labels on documents.
    • SIE Fund and related government funding links appear where we can match them.
    • Large improvements for phones and smaller screens on charity and compare pages.
    • You can create an account to save favourite charities and filter the directory to those you saved.
  13. Clearer charity URLs and funding context

    • Charity URLs support parent and subsidiary organisations in a clearer path structure.
    • Profiles can show HKCSS-related context, beneficiary information, and Social Welfare Department subvention allocations when available.
    • Funded-project and grant-related context on profiles is clearer where we have matching data.
  14. Mission statements and mobile menu

    • Charity profiles can show a mission statement when available.
    • Header navigation works better on phones with an improved mobile menu.
  15. Donate, support, and stronger branding

    • New Donate and Support Our Work pages.
    • About Shared Data page expanded with clearer initiative context.
    • Directory filters and charity cards refined; site branding and graphics updated.
  16. Links to Grant Finder

    • Where relevant, charity pages link through to matching grant providers on Grant Finder.
    • Map embeds and location display on profiles improved.
  17. Analytics, audits, financials, and SDGs

    • Public Analytics overview of the Hong Kong charity sector.
    • Audit documents and impact reports appear on charity profiles when available.
    • Financial figures are easier to explore in a collapsible section.
    • Directory can be filtered by UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where tagged.
