About the organisation
「元朗區體育會」之成立，遠溯至一九五八年，由當時一群熱愛體育運動的地區人士發起，旨在推動地區體育，提高社區凝聚力，為居民提供參加體育及康樂活動的機會。多年來本會一直積極推廣康樂及體育活動，並獲多個政府部門的支持及贊助，舉辦各項體育競賽，開辦各項運動培訓班，培育不少體壇精英。歷來有不少運動員由本會培訓，推薦予港隊習訓，成為香港代表隊。 由一九九二年開始，本會舉辦每兩年一屆之「元朗區體育節」，每次均邀請國內外知名體育團體及香港區體育精英參與比賽及表演，既讓運動員獲觀摩交流機會，促進技術水平；也提供各項精彩運動節目讓市民欣賞，大大提高了元朗區五十多萬居民對體育運動的興趣，達至推廣體育運動的目的。
