Description: A charitable organization established in 2006 by peer counsellors from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and the Youth College of the Vocational Training Council; 1st Step Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by a group of social workers, doctors, lawyers, university tutors and members of the physically disabled communities. Our Association aims at providing extensive services and care to those with serious physical disabilities, which resulted from work injury or other accidents, and their families. The support services we provide include: case work, recovery guidance, law consultation and consultation on employee rights. Our association aims at empowering service users and their family through establishing support groups, where members may assist each other and in turn, assist themselves. Our Service Direction Our Association provides services to persons physically disabled due to work injury or other accidents through a “family-centric＂ way. We provide extensive assistance to members and their families as a unit in order to let them adapt to their new situation together.
