Environment and AnimalsMutual/Membership BenefitHistory The Geological Society of Hong Kong (GSHK) was established by a group of local geologists in 1982 with an aim to advance geological sciences in Hong Kong and to provide a platform for both professionals and amateurs to meet. Since then, GSHK holds regularly geological conferences and seminars, and organises local and overseas field trips for both members and non-members to explore the geological world. At present, the society maintains a steady membership of about 250, including professional geologists from the public and private sectors, academia, as well as teachers, students and amateurs. Visions and Missions GSHK is a non-profit making organisation that aims to enhance geological interests and studies in Hong Kong. We believe that geological knowledge is indispensable for achieving a sustainable community, and therefore ought to be widely promoted to the general public.

Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, The
Arts and Culture and HumanitiesHuman ServicesWhile developing the art of traditional Cantonese Opera and protecting the rights and welfare of fellow performers, CAAHK also aims at providing care to the old and weak, assisting the widowed and orphaned, performing ceremonies to pay tributes to the Chinese saints and ancestors, and nurturing new talents. Over the past 50 years, CAAHK has not only looking after the welfare of its members, but also actively participating in charity events for the community. Whenever there were huge disasters that struck Hong Kong, China of Asia, the CAAHK would immediately organize charity performances to raise funds and support those who were affected, events such as Love for Victims by CAAHK (八和愛心獻災民), Sending Warmth to Taiwan by CAAHK (八和送暖到台灣), Love for South Asia by CAAHK (八和愛心獻南亞), and Together CAAHK Warms Up Sichuan (八和同心暖四川) were held. On 17 December 2008, the CAAHK was registered as a charity organization. Committed to establishing and protecting the survival mechanism of Cantonese Opera in Hong Kong, CAAHK aims to strengthen the inheritance system and enhance the communication with various stakeholders in the society, thereby passing down the tradition of Cantonese Opera in a dynamic fashion.

CIBSE HKR represents CIBSE in Hong Kong, especially with respect to membership development, public image and co-ordination with other learned societies in Hong Kong. CIBSE HKR also administers the grant from Headquarters for the interest of CIBSE members in Hong Kong and conducts professional review interviews and training assessment in Hong Kong on behalf of Headquarters. The CIBSE HKR organizes appropriate activities for and provides membership or training advice to CIBSE members in Hong Kong, but also advises, assists and monitors the learned society functions organized jointly with Building Services Division of HKIE, Hong Kong Chapter of ASHRAE for CIBSE members in Hong Kong. Vision The CIBSE has the vision of promotion the art, science and practice of building services engineering for the benefit of all, and the advancement of education and research in building services engineering. The Institution has two main functions: 1. It confers an internationally recognized badge of quality; 2. It undertakes a wide range of learned society activities ranging from producing information services and acknowledged industry good practice publications in its series of Guides and other publications, to running a wide range of events, and to providing extensive networking activities through a series of regional and special interest groups.
