About the organisation
Chung Chi College was founded in 1951 by the representatives of Protestant Churches in Hong Kong to fill the need for a local institution of higher education, it carries the education mission of the 13 Christian universities in the Mainland China. In 1963, Chung Chi College was incorporated as one of the three founding colleges of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. With the College motto of “In Pursuit of Excellence,” we aim to provide students with whole-person education, to integrate Christianity and Chinese cultures, and to instill in our students a sense of self-worth, confidence, and perseverance in both academic pursuits and personal growth, through a variety of non-formal programmes and extra-curricular activities. The following projects and funds of Chung Chi College welcome donations and support. Your gift makes an impact on us! (1) “Project E" (Redevelopment Project of Block E) To promote the College’s long-term development and educational mission, “Project E” is launched to construct extensive indoor and outdoor activity spaces for students, academic staff, and alumni. The College has demolished the nearly 60-year-old staff quarters Block E adjacent to the University MTR station and will redevelop the site into a twin-block building at the original site. The high block will be a student hostel, while the low block includes a replacement staff quarters, an alumni activity centre linking to a sky garden, Digital Culture and Art Creativity Centre, etc. The new building is situated in a prime location next to the University MTR station with extremely convenient transportation. It will be an important platform for students, academic staff, and alumni to gather and exchange, stimulating creativity and encouraging innovation. (2) Student Development Fund In The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the unique college system complements the formal curricula and offers students pastoral care and whole-person education. As one of the colleges, Chung Chi College aims to nurture students’ interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, and build up their confidence, leadership and sense of social responsibility, through providing a wide range of non-formal learning opportunities, including language seminars, art, and cultural programme, overseas exchange and community service programmes. “Chung Chi EYE Award – Excel Yourself through Exploration” is established to encourage students to explore the world during their studies by subsidizing them to join the following overseas programmes: Student Exchange Programme, Language Study Abroad Programme, Study Trips to Germany/France/ Japan, and Summer Study Abroad Programme. “FLY Award – Find a Learning opportunity Yourself” aims to enrich Chung Chi students’ international exposure and motivate students to explore their potential through learning abroad. Students are encouraged to further their personal development with an international perspective, participate in non-credit bearing, short-term, non-local programmes or activities organized by recognized institutes, academies or organizations. With donations, Chung Chi College aims to provide more opportunities for students’ personal growth and continuously improve the programmes to cater to their changing needs, also to offer scholarships and financial aid schemes that enable them to fully exploit their potential. (3) Campus Development Fund Chung Chi College has been famous for its beautiful campus and a variety of facilities. However, as time passes by, the buildings have been deteriorating and need repairs. Some might even need total refurbishment as the existing facilities cannot meet current needs. Therefore, in order to maintain the reputable learning environment of Chung Chi, as well as to provide our students a homelike hostel experience, we sincerely hope your financial support to undertake necessary maintenance, regularly renovate student hostels and equip the up-to-date teaching facilities.
