About the organisation
ocal charity Read-Cycling (IR No. 91/10408) is committed to promoting book recycling and sustainable lifestyles since 2009. The story began when book lover mom Cynthia suddenly came to realise that their house was overflowing with books, grown-ups’ and children’s. After researching into the usual practice of various book recycling institutions, she felt there’s a better solution for her pre-loved books -- set up a brand new charity named Read-Cycling (書送快樂).
Mission
Foster a love of reading and promote sustainable living in one go by encouraging book recycling.

A couple of weeks ago, an English gentleman in his eighties visited our Sheung Wan office. Following a recommendation from a friend from RTHK, he hoped Read-Cycling could give his late wife’s cherished Chinese book collection a meaningful second life. 一位80多歲的外籍老人家，有天專誠由九龍往「書送快樂」上環辦公室，說希望我們可以接收他剛過世的太太的中文書，共三大個書櫃，都是文學與歷史讀物。他不想辜負妻子的多年珍藏，輾轉從任職香港電台的友人推介，找到我們。 . 上星期把書籍入箱的時候，和老先生聊起他與妻子一起的美好時光。 . 「這些書架是她的硬碟，想起要找甚麼資料，她可以馬上準確地把相關書籍拿出來。她早上喜歡聽電台節目，遇上別人發音不準，又或用錯詞彙，便咔咔大笑，然後到她的硬碟庫找書印證。」 . 「約會未幾，我問她喜歡甚麼運動。」 . 「我看書。她說。」 . 說着，老先生笑將起來。 . 我們平時絕少上門收書，今次替老先生執拾了十多箱，他高興地拍照傳給在英國生活的兒子一家。 . 電召貨車期間，異常地沒人接單，大家開始有點心焦。 . 隊友 N 忽爾說，我有朋友在附近負責送貨，待我看他能不能幫忙。 . 沒多久，他那個帶陽光般微笑的朋友駕着大碼貨車到來，剛好把所有入了箱的書全放進後座。 . 老先生問我們應當付多少運費。你直接問這位先生吧我們說。 . 「不用不用，我沒空的話也幫不了忙。」年輕的臉笑着回答。 . ...
