Hong Kong Women Foundation Limited
EducationHuman ServicesHong Kong Women Foundation is established and registered in 1991 in Hong Kong as a non-profit-making organisation. The Foundation aims to promote social services and women work. In the past two decades, the Foundation dedicated to serve the community, promoted services for women and families, children and youth as well as senior citizens. In co-operation with local universities and the universities in China, the Foundation conducted research studies and organised regional/international seminars to address issues concerning children, youth, women and families in the Chinese society. Through a joint federation with the local women organisations, the Foundation reviewed the Protection of Women and Juveniles Ordinance. In advocacy of women welfare and social harmony, the Foundation made recommendations to the Government for improvement of relevant policies and existing services for women. In 1996 the Foundation established the HO Kwok Pui Chun Social Centre for the Elderly. The Centre organised numerous activities oriented to senior citizens, assisting them in potential development and to participate in the community affairs for self-enrichment and active ageing. In 2014 the Social Welfare Department upgraded the Centre to become a Neighbourhood Elderly Centre. Thereafter the Centre has expanded the service scope, rendering counselling to the elderly and support for caregivers as well as for those elders who stay behind the scene. Apart from raising the service quality of the Centre, these have demonstrated the mission and achievements of the Foundation in serving the society. For the way forward, the Foundation will strive to serve and make contribution to the society, keeping abreast of the social conditions and tempo as appropriate. Aims and Objectives To raise social concerns for women’s needs and promote support for women services; To plan, study and suggest solutions for issues/problems relevant to women; To embark on new venture/work for advocacy of women welfare. To organise seminars, talks, workshops and other activities for better development of women welfare and services; To liaise and communicate with other organisations (sharing similar aimsand objectives) in Hong Kong, other region or the overseas for raising and improvement of women status; To review and make recommendations to the Government for improvement of policy in area of women services; and To publish and post article, publication, booklet for promotion of the aims and objectives of the Foundation.

The “EasyHear” Charity Fund is a government-registered charity organization. It provides subsidies to grassroots people in financial difficulties who may not be able to afford the price of products, and those in need, so that they can lead a normal life. Applicants need to be referred by social workers, fill in the application form together with the required supporting documents, and pass the internal audit of the foundation.

Budlet Folk Dance Club
Arts and Culture and HumanitiesIn the 60’s, there was a folk dance group under the Chinese Students Weekly in Hong Kong. The members gathered every week to enjoy dancing. In 1967, the Weekly ended and the folk dance group had to be dismissed. Those group members, who were young students and already tied with deep friendship, then organized themselves and inaugurated the Budlet Folk Dance Club (the Club) on 10 September 1967. Later in December 1973, the Club was registered as a non-profit making organization, and further as a charity organization on 9 April 1990 in Hong Kong. Objective To study and promote folk dance; to provide non-profit making dance activities to the general public.

Human ServicesPublic and Societal BenefitProject on Children and Adolescents at Risk Education (Project C.A.R.E.), under the C.A.R.E. Lab of City University of Hong Kong aims at developing innovative interventions with different approaches in reducing and preventing aggressive behaviour and victimisation of school bullying in Hong Kong. This project had adopted Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in group counselling working with the exercise of systematic anti-bullying education to improve the growth environment of schoolchildren and simultaneously address the school bullying issue comprehensively. After succeeding in implementing the Project C.A.R.E., the research team also invented various innovative approaches of intervention to reduce aggressive behaviour of schoolchildren and tackle the problem of school bullying.

EducationHealthEstablished in 1993, the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Academy) is an independent institution with statutory power to organise, monitor, assess and accredit all medical and dental specialist training, and the responsibility to oversee the continuing medical education and continuous professional development to maintain the standard of specialists practising in Hong Kong. The powers of the Academy are laid out in the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 419), Regulations and Bylaws. Since the Medical Registration Ordinance was amended in 1996, the Academy has played a more active and significant role in the accreditation of continuing medical education for the purpose of specialist registration. The upsurge of specialisation in medicine encourages branching of the profession. Between 1992 and 1997, 15 constituent specialty Colleges were recognised by the Academy Council, all of which run their own structured training programmes. The Specialist Register was established in 1998. According to the Medical Registration Ordinance (MRO) and Dentists Registration Ordinance (DRO), a registered medical practitioner or dentist who wishes to have his/her name included in the Specialist Register of Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) or Dental Council of Hong Kong (DCHK) must be either a Fellow of the Academy, or certified by the Academy to have training and qualification comparable [or equivalent in the case of an application under DRO] to that required of an Academy Fellow in the relevant specialty. A specialist can claim himself / herself as a specialist only in the specialty under which he / she is included in the Specialist Register but not other specialists.

Human ServicesTo sustain the development of the Elder Academy Scheme, the Government funded the establishment of the Elder Academy Development Foundation (the Foundation) in 2009 and the Committee on the Elder Academy Development Foundation (the Foundation Committee) was formed under the Elderly Commission to devise strategies and measures for the establishment, curriculum design, extra-curricular activities and development of elder academies, and to consider and assess funding applications received by the Foundation.
