We are a group of visually impaired people and volunteers, aspiring to serve the visually impaired living in Hong Kong Island. Therefore, we organized a service organization called "Hong Kong Visually Impaired Association" to provide services to our members according to their personal needs. The Association was formally established on March 1, 1998 and registered as a non-profit self-help organization with the Societies Office of the Licensing Branch of the Hong Kong Police Force. In 2002, it enjoyed the exemption certificate under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (tax exemption certificate) and was exempted from tax. The Association is managed by an Executive Committee and its main funding comes from the non-recurrent grant from the Social Welfare Department, various funds, donations from all walks of life and fundraising activities. Committee members' titles include: President, Vice President, Financial Secretary, Executive Secretary, Recreation member.., etc., a total of five to seven people.

We provide comprehensive educational, rehabilitation, career and boarding services for children with visual impairment and those visually impaired with intellectual and / or other disabilities, as well as residential care and nursing facilities for visually impaired elderly. We also provide employment training to visually impaired students and youths and work to develop job opportunities for our graduates. We engage with other voluntary and government agencies at local, regional and international levels to maintain, improve and provide services to the visually impaired and deliver public education. Founded in 1950, the Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Limited has been upholding the four doctrines, “Give Mutual Help, Share Joys and Sorrow, Show Support at Difficult Time, Make Changes in Customs and Traditions” to serve residents in the Southern District. In 1976, our Association established the Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Social Service (formerly named “Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Social Service Centre”). To achieve our mission, “Promote Mutual Concern among Neighbours; Nurture Talents to Serve the Community; Enhance Well-being to Promote Health for All”, we are committed to providing multi-farious social welfare services to community with our belief of “Care, Helpfulness, Accessibility, Reliability, Mutuality”.
