Fisheries Enhancement Fund, The
Environment and AnimalsAs part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study, Airport Authority (AA) has committed to formulate and implement a Marine Ecology and Fisheries Enhancement Strategy (MEFES). The MEFES has been set up for the purpose of enhancing the marine environment for the benefit of marine ecology (including Chinese White Dolphins (CWDs)) and fisheries resources in the vicinity of the project area, in Hong Kong western waters and further afield into the Pearl River Estuary (PRE). The MEFES also functions to provide support and assistance to affected fishers, and to encourage more sustainable fishing operations. In accordance with the Environmental Permit (EP) conditions 2.8 and 2.13, AA has established the independent Marine Ecology Enhancement Fund (MEEF) and Fisheries Enhancement Fund (FEF), respectively, to fund initiatives proposed by third‐parties (eg Non‐governmental organisations (NGOs), researchers and the fishery sector) that support the objectives of the MEFES. A Fisheries Management Plan (FMP) was developed and approved by the Director of Environmental Protection on 18 March 2016, which describes the proposed mechanisms for implementing the FEF, as well as the goals and themes under which funding applications can be made.

The inspiration for the foundation is derived from Founding President, Dr William CG Ko who devotes his lifetime service to Hong Kong’s water supplies, in improving the quality and quantity of water supply from the East River. As an engineer helping Assistant Director (AD) Lau in Stage I, as a senior engineer helping AD Leung in Stage II, as the AD himself in Stage III and as the Director of Water Supplies in Stage IV. We are an advocate for sustainable business solutions and a platform for exploring the latest development and best practices of low carbon and other environmental technologies. Environment And Conservation Fund
Environment and AnimalsThe Environment and Conservation Fund Ordinance (Cap. 450), which established the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF), was enacted in June 1994. The ECF came into operation in August 1994. Section 5 of the Ordinance (Cap. 450) provides for the Secretary for Environment and Ecology to act as the trustee of the ECF. Section 7 of the Ordinance provides for the establishment of an Environment and Conservation Fund Committee.
Environmental Management Association of Hong Kong Limited, The
Environment and AnimalsThe Environmental Management Association of Hong Kong (EMAHK) was founded in 2010. It was registered as a Society under the Hong Kong Societies Ordinance CAP.151 until March 2020 when it changed legal status and became registered as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Ordinance Cap.622. At the same time, EMAHK received approval from the Inland Revenue Department to operate as a charitable institution in accordance with the Inland Revenue Ordinance Cap.112 Section 88. EMAHK’s vision is to become a leading and recognised contributor to environmental management and sustainable development in Hong Kong, as well as drive the advancement of environmental management as a professional field. To achieve this, we regularly organize seminars by prominent speakers as well as technical visits for our members as well as non-members. We actively participate in community engagements and dialogues on environmental issues. The multi-disciplinary and professional background of our members provides EMAHK the necessary diversified experience to accomplish our goals. Environment and AnimalsConsumers Acting for People and the Environment Limited (CAPE) is a non-profit organization that was established in 2003. In 2005, CAPE gained charitable status and has been tax-exempt under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Hong Kong). We are the first NGO in Hong Kong to emphasize the role of consumers in acting for environmental issues. While generally regarded as a green group, we define ourselves as a grassroots group that focuses on how modern consumption patterns have detrimental effects on the environment and on the lives of both modern and tribal peoples. The world is full of living beings of which the human race is only one species. However, our daily consumption exploits nature. Indigenous and traditional cultures recognize that they are but a part of a community of plant, animal, and spirit beings, and live in harmony with the land and the complex ecological systems upon which they depend. Our mission is to build a sense of responsibility and stewardship, thus shifting behavior towards responsible consumption.
