Branches of Hope, founded in 2012, is a registered tax-exempt charity working to restore dignity, justice and hope to the marginalised and vulnerable in Hong Kong. It is dedicated to supporting refugees, asylum-seekers (non-refoulement claimants) and those who have experienced human trafficking and exploitation through Care, Empowerment and Social Awareness. Branches of Hope achieves this through its two service programmes: the Refugee Opportunity and Development (ROAD) programme and the Stop Trafficking of People (STOP) programme. ROAD supports over 1000 refugees and asylum seekers, mainly from African and Southeast Asian nations. ROAD’s mission is to equip, educate and empower individuals and families to become positive and contributing members of our community. STOP aims to end human trafficking in and through Hong Kong. STOP provides protection support to those who experienced human trafficking and exploitation, educates the vulnerable community to prevent human trafficking from happening, and conducts research to build capacity for responding to these issues.

Every journey has a story to tell. It all started in the summer of 2011, as students back then from various disciplines at the University of Hong Kong, we joined a programme called the Migrant Outreach Education Initiative (MOEI) organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences. In the programme, we were given the opportunity to teach English to a group of Myanmar refugee / migrant children along the Thai-Burma border. While the children absorb knowledge at a speed of a sponge, we volunteers too were given a pair of new lens as we see a world beyond our privileged setting. As we all returned to Hong Kong with a heavy heart, we pondered on how we could give back to this community, a group of smiling faces who took us in almost immediately as one of them - as family. It was then we decided to use what we learnt in University, our knowledge from our respective disciplines, to pay it forward to this land we proudly called our second home. And this has become the spark of our journey. From there on sprang our School Construction programme, Playground Renovation programme, Street Law programme, Journalism Literacy programme, Medical programme and many more. Each year, University students from various disciplines through different summer voluntary programmes head to the Thai-Burma border and various cities in Myanmar to conduct workshops and projects, translating their knowledge into practical use, and along so built strong and lasting friendships with the Myanmar community. From developing programmes and projects, in the year 2017, we also began funding our first batch of Myanmar students to Universities abroad via our Scholarship Scheme - many of which we got acquainted years ago in our summer programmes as participants or members of our local partnering organisations. The journey continues as we explore what lies ahead in the next chapter - and we invite you too to join us as we dream and envision an empathetic world where everyone has the equal opportunity to realise their potentials and aspirations.

Grassroots Future is a registered charity in Hong Kong which came out of a desire to help refugee-led initiatives and grassroots organizations working with refugees build capacity. Grassroots Future envisions to build capacity among refugee-led initiatives, focusing on community building through events and projects driven by members of the refugee community. Education: Supporting the needs of young people and adults through privately funded vocational training, mentorship, workshops and general skills training to improve capacity and self-sufficiency. Supporting the educational expenses of children through our initiatives and event programming. Community building: Community outreach and cultural events, which are curated by the refugee community, to engage different groups within society. Well-being: Provide safe spaces for healing and mental well-being through the arts and recreational activities.

我們為超過70個國家的受逼迫基督徒： 提供聖經和基督教書籍: 敞開的門為受逼迫基督徒提供不同語言的聖經資料，包括研讀版聖經、兒童聖經、mp3聖經以及門徒培訓材料。 舉辦領袖及門徒培訓: 敞開的門會向教會提供領袖及門徒訓練，讓教會領袖懂得如何領導教會，以及裝備教會以至能夠在困難的環境中堅持信仰。 維持生命、支援生計: 敞開的門透過識字訓練、生計和商業機會等實際技能培訓協助基督教家庭、寡婦和孤兒等各地遭受逼迫、暴力及天災的受害者。 給予個人鼓勵: 敞開的門陪伴受逼迫信徒，會親身來到受逼迫信徒身邊。並會把各地教會鼓勵的信件或卡片交與受逼迫信徒，讓受逼迫信徒知道他們並不孤單。 發表宣導: 敞開的門代替受逼迫信徒發聲、提供法律上的支持、尋求良好的政策變化。 提高意識、鼓勵禱告: 敞開的門製作不少產品，用以提高基督徒關心受逼迫教會的意識，鼓勵基督徒禱告支持。 This is our ministry in over 70 countries: Bible distribution: We provide persecuted believers with Bibles and other Christian literature in different languages, including children’s and audio Bibles, as well as discipleship materials. Leadership and discipleship training: We provide churches with leadership and discipleship training so that church leaders can equip their church to hold on to their faith in the face of difficulties. Practical help: We support persecuted Christians with literacy classes, micro-loans, and other socio-economic helps. Personal encouragement: We personally visit and pray with persecuted Christians, also bringing them messages of encouragement from believers all over the world and praying with them. Advocacy: We help persecuted believers by advocating on their behalf, providing legal support, and seeking positive policy changes in their country. Raising awareness and encouraging prayer: We produce a range of resources for the church in Hong Kong and Taiwan, to alert them to the needs of the persecuted church and encouraging prayerful support.
