About the organisation
本會於1955年成立，由當時華民政務司麥道軻轄下的華民政務司署婦女聯絡組領導多位街坊會首長夫人及其友好，齊心組織了婦女團體為婦孺謀福利，定名為「香港東區婦女福利會」，當時社會局特撥出北角平民營為籌備委員會會址。
