The China Peniel Missionary Society Incorporation was founded in 1914 by Albert Kato Reiton. Albert Kato Reiton was initially ordained as a pastor in Wuzhou, Guangxi Province, China, but due to severe flooding, he returned to Hong Kong. He later rented a building on Shanghai Street in Kowloon for church use. In 1921, he purchased a sugar and ginger factory, which located on 90-98 Portland Street, to expand the church. He also established a Bible school to train staff for the various churches. In 1936, he purchased land and built a new church in Cheung Chau. After the end of the Pacific War in 1944, he established branch churches and operated primary schools, kindergartens, orphanages, and elderly care centers in Model Village, Aberdeen, Lai Chi Kok, Chuk Yuen, Shau Kei Wan, and Tsuen Wan. Due to social changes, our association now has branches in Yau Ma Tei, Aberdeen, Cheung Chau, Shau Kei Wan, Shek Kip Mei and Tin Shui Wai, and operates the Neighbourhood Elderly Centre of Grace in Shek Kip Mei, to continue serving the community and spreading salvation.
