- 本會以高舉基督、廣傳福音、建立教會、造就信徒、擴展靈工、服務人群，以達榮神益人之目的為宗旨。 中國基督徒傳道會於1953年3月由創辦人宋彼得牧師創立，期望由一群中國基督徒以自立、自養、自傳方式組成的教會。 總會初期於筲箕灣成立西大堂，中心堂於1966年4月9日成立（初期名為九龍中心堂），以銀行按揭方式購置堂址，位於九龍旺角彌敦道607號新興大厦303室，開展聖工。在新界小欖村有一所福音堂，其後亦將牛頭角中基佈道所正式成為中基堂，在不同區域發展。 60至70年代香港人口急速增長，宋牧師同期開辨永生醫務院，為貧苦大眾提供廉價醫療服務，也開辦全港首創流動醫療福音車隊，效法主耶穌基督昔日到各處傳道醫病，高峰時期有十部醫療車，每日到港九新界造福人群，一邊醫病，一邊傳揚福音。 宋牧師於本堂成立初期息勞歸主，宋林覺今師母續任監督，除了主日崇拜外，每週有主日學、青少年團契，詩班員練習、慕道班、信徒造就班、探訪工作、家庭聚會、週三晚祈禱會，同工祈禱會及定期佈道會等，蒙神恩待信徒人數逐漸增加。 80年代旺角區内環境改變，色情場所林立，本堂事工正值興旺時期，青少年團契出席人數眾多，年輕姊妹出入感到尴尬，上落電梯時需要結伴或有弟兄陪伴，加上地方不敷應用，急需另覓新堂，會友一致同意進行擴堂，經歴主的恩典，於1992年12月6日搬往煙廠街興發商業大廈101室，擴展主的國度。 千禧年代本堂事工不斷發展，開辦學生功輔班，由專職導師負責，吸引區內青少年學生到教會認識福音，並設立兒童崇拜，教會使用空間漸見緊絀，逐購置同一大厦401室，作為副堂。 本堂回應主的大使命，由2014年起支持泰北阿卡族福音事工，並每年舉辦短宣到泰國清萊探訪，參加人數逐年增加，2016年約有30人出發，受到當地事工的啟發，於2018年10月開辦咖啡室福音事工，將副堂401室改造為咖啡室，名為良亭雅敍（Pavilion Cafe），藉此接觸人群廣傳福音，亦開放空間給予主內團體使用，榮耀主名。
