Missione Possibile is an Italian NGO operating in Cambodia since 1999. We guarantee education to around 600 unprivileged children, from ages 5 to 20. The non-profit organization was set up in 1999 by Gerry Testori, Missione Possibile’s founder, when he was travelling across Cambodia with a mobile clinic to help villagers in need. The country was in a desperate state after the genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge Regime. Gerry and his team landed in a poor village in Takeo Province, where he noticed there were no school facilities available. Hundreds of children confronted the possibility of growing up with no education, generation after generation, facing a future of illiteracy and destitution. Gerry took the decision to fund a class run by a local teacher and Missione Possibile was born. After a few months, the village sold some land to Missione Possibile to build a school. The first brick was placed, and the journey began. Thanks to the generosity of many supporters, the first building with four classes was completed in 2006. To date, a Primary and a Secondary school educating over 500 students have been set up in this poor rural region of Cambodia about a two-hour drive from Phnom Penh. The catchment area for the schools covers six villages in Takeo Province.
