Religion Related本教會開始於一九三八年,初時聚會借九龍城打鼓嶺道伯特利地方舉行,後來遷士他令道浸信會。光復時則假太子道303號地下吳清池先生(即吳毓輝前主席令尊)府上,不久又再遷士他令道浸信會聚會。 主日講道初時由主內弟兄姊妹輪流負責,及蒙伯特利教會牧師及各教會牧師幫助,主理講道,後來本會聘請陳應希先生為第一任傳道,第二任傳道為金腓力先生。一九四七年蒙神安排,得聘簡賜福先生為第三任傳道,並於一九五三年三月一日按立簡賜福先生為本會牧師。 一九四九年本會先賢前輩感於必須要有自己的禮拜堂及學校,所以發起籌建禮拜堂及學校運動,成立了九龍閩南中華基督教會籌建委員會,並於一九五四年向政府正式註冊為法團,展開籌募建堂、建校運動,獲海內外主內弟兄姊妹及美國歸正教會支持及奉獻,並蒙政府批贈天光道一幅三萬餘尺地皮為建堂,建校之用,感謝上帝,禮拜堂終於一九五八年在天光道舉行動土禮,一九五九年舉行獻堂禮。

Human ServicesPublic and Societal Benefit現在的深井給人最深刻的印象,就是遠近馳名的燒鵝,居住在香港的人,大多熟識這個地方的特產──燒鵝,深井靈光堂就座落在這個地區。四、五十年代,深井只是新界一個小村落,與荃灣相近。遠在半個世紀前,深井的人口稀少。及後來外來居民漸次遷入這小村,依山及在農田搭建房屋居住,居民大部份是客家人及潮州人。同時先後有九龍紡織廠、生力啤酒廠、嘉頓餅乾廠、美國聯合碳化有限公司等建立,居民多在這些工廠就業,以維持生計。由於交通不太方便,居民的生活和社交都是在村內,因此居民有很好的鄰舍關係。 仰面而上,踏過數十級梯級,一座依山而建的禮堂,就是我們的教會──深井靈光堂。深井街坊大都認識在這裏已數十年的教會和小學,並習慣地叫它「靈光」。 「靈光堂」 (TheEmmanuelChurch),按英文 Emmanuel 的意思就是以馬內利──神與我們同在;聽教會長執的分享,教會的名字是「聖靈之光」的意思,因為神與我們同在,就有聖靈的光輝。 靈光堂與香港一些其他宗派及獨立教會相似,是由美國的宣教士來香港建立的。靈光堂的根源可追溯至二次大戰香港淪陷前 (1941-1945)的「靈光書室」(Emmanuel Book Room),這書室是由三十年代來華的宣教士Dr. & Mrs. Lechmere Clift 所建立,戰後仍然運作。直至1948年 Dr. Clift 被主接回天家,Mrs. Clift 於1950年將靈光書室交給「洛杉磯聖經學院」(Bible Instituteof LosAngeles)及本會創辦人饒培德牧師夫婦(Rev. Dr. & Mrs. Charles A. Roberts)繼續服事香港的基督徒。 靈光堂創辦人於早期蒙上帝的呼召,從美國前來遠東地區宣教。曾於「中國長沙饒培德牧師湖南聖學院」擔任院長,造就上帝的工人,後約於五零年來港,與「洛杉磯聖經學院」開始早期靈光堂的事工,當時只有英文聚會,參加者多是外籍信徒。
