About
- Description
- The Cecilian Singers was founded in 1962 and it is one of Hong Kong’s oldest running mixed choirs. We sing a wide-ranging repertoire from madrigals to world music; by composers ancient and modern, both a capella and accompanied. Our programmes reflect our love of choral diversity and it is something we are known for. The choir’s original aim was to promote European choral music with a repertoire spanning at least five centuries. It started out predominantly as an a cappella group, performing both sacred and secular music. Over the years, the choir has also sung some larger works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Handel, often with a small orchestra and soloists.
