About
- Description
- Children’s Thalassaemia Foundation (CTF) was founded in 1993 by a group of medical professionals, parents of patients, and charitable members of the community. For over 25 years, the Foundation has sought to raise public awareness of Thalassaemia in Hong Kong. It strives to improve the quality of life of Thalassaemia patients and works to eradicate the disorder through treatment and prevention. The Foundation contributes towards the financing of medical research as well as organising medical exchange symposiums. The Foundation also works closely with doctors to make sure patients and their parents are kept informed and involved in treatment decision along with appropriate counselling. The Foundation has made significant inroads in fulfilling its objective. This has not been possible without the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of its members. But the road is long and there much more work needs to be done.
- For over 25 years FOCUS has been a trusted resource for Hong Kong parents, educators and medical professionals seeking to learn how to better support the academic and social lives of children with mainstream learning differences. FOCUS aims to improve educational and life outcomes of children with AD/HD and SpLD by expanding understanding and raising awareness of what it means to have a mind that learns differently Our mission is is to improve the education of mainstream students who are challenged by Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) by providing accurate evidence-based information, practical strategies and support to parents and professionals in education and healthcare and by improving understanding of how learning differences impact youth both emotionally and academically.
