- 陸牧師母女還未回到美國前,陸慕德牧師(Homer)已於1948年息勞歸主。陸秀貞牧師 (Beatrice)偕母回國,正好侍奉在側,讓母親頤養天年!惜其母陸以平牧師(Emma)身 體漸弱,亦於1955年因心臟病發而離世,享壽79 歲。 1957年,陸秀貞牧師(Beatrice)已年過60,本不是承擔開荒工作之年紀,但她沒有放下宣 教的負擔,從美國來到香港(已不能回到中國了) 得到來自上海的弟兄姊妹接待,開始了 家庭聚會。看來陸秀貞牧師心底的宣教使命仍然旺盛,再加上顧念母親的遺志、昔日會友的 需要(他們應是一直有保持聯絡) 再次踏上宣教的腳步,開始靈真堂的故事… 除了來自上海的弟兄姊妹外,後來一些從溫州來的家庭,也邀請陸牧師為他們主領家庭聚 會;由於人數漸多,便於土瓜灣北帝街22號三樓租用一單位開設教會,仍以「以馬內利傳道 會」命名,再加上「靈真堂」三字(Emmanuel MissionarySociety Gospel Assembly Church) 那時教會以群體佈道為主,以上海人為主要福音對象;故教會內近九成都是上海人,可說是 一間上海人教會!靈真堂立會的日期是1960年9月21日。 此時陸牧師已屆65歲,不太可能一個人完成教會種種牧養、教導、關顧等工作,加上香港是 華人社會,總得需要有華人的同工,才能把教會的事工做得深入和廣泛;惟一直找不到合適 人選。1961年4月,教會聘得于宅安先生(Stephen)為傳道人,于傳道為中華基督教傳道 會會友,畢業於香港聖經學院(香港神學院前身),後在廣大書院(後合併為中大的聯合書 (院)進修社教系。于傳道成了陸牧師同心事奉的好同工,且忠心事奉多年,奠定了靈真堂的 軸心基礎:主日學、少年團、婦女會、弟兄會、查經班、祈禱會和兩堂的主日崇拜。在神恩 保守下,信主人數年年加增。
