- Creating a regional community of professional caregivers while unlocking the potential of Hong Kong’s vulnerable children We know that when communities come together and commit to creating a loving network of care for their young, those children will thrive, their communities will benefit, and our world gets a little bit better. We know this because, for over two decades, we have been training caregivers to provide loving, nurturing care to marginalised children so they can have an equal start in life. And we have seen the results. Our teachable approach transforms young lives. Starting in China’s welfare institutions twenty years ago, we extended our trainings beyond teachers and nannies to reach at-risk communities and families in rural villages and factory zones. As the demand for our services grew, we developed online learning tools and expanded our capacity by teaching caregivers to train others through our Training of Trainers (TOT) program.
- For over 25 years FOCUS has been a trusted resource for Hong Kong parents, educators and medical professionals seeking to learn how to better support the academic and social lives of children with mainstream learning differences. FOCUS aims to improve educational and life outcomes of children with AD/HD and SpLD by expanding understanding and raising awareness of what it means to have a mind that learns differently Our mission is is to improve the education of mainstream students who are challenged by Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) by providing accurate evidence-based information, practical strategies and support to parents and professionals in education and healthcare and by improving understanding of how learning differences impact youth both emotionally and academically.
