For the past three decades, members of the Zonta Club of the New Territories have pledged to work as one to serve the community. We have supported and actively participated in a wide spectrum of social services, targeting in particular for women, then elderly, the young, the underprivileged and the handicapped. Some of these projects have been pursued consecutively for several years; at the same time new projects are being identified and undertaken each year. In recent years, our work has also extended to promoting environmental protection.

The Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust) is part of the wider Swire group, which was established in 1816 and began its Chinese Mainland operations in 1866. Swire Trust was established in 1983 as the philanthropic arm of Swire Pacific Limited. The Trust receives annual income from companies in the Swire group in Hong Kong based on a percentage of Swire Pacific Limited’s profit. The Trust is a Hong Kong charity registered under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, and is overseen by a Philanthropy Council. Guided by the Swire family motto – Esse Quam Videri – the Trust is motivated by altruism and aims to act for the direct benefit of society and greater good. MISSION We aim to create positive change in Education, Marine Conservation and Arts through supporting charitable projects primarily in Hong Kong. Education To enhance education equity, quality and innovation for disadvantaged children and youth. Marine Conservation To help create sustainable marine ecosystems in Hong Kong through policy change, public engagement and scientific research. Arts To promote an inclusive Arts sector, and to use Arts in addressing social issues.

This Fund was created with an initial donation of $1 million by Sir Shiu-kin Tang to commemorate Sir Robert Black's governorship. The Fund is managed by a Statutory Committee set up under the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Ordinance (Cap. 1101). Fund Objectives The Fund aims to provide - Type I grants: Grants to social welfare or youth organisations and other suitable institutions in support of local or overseas development programmes (e.g. leadership training courses, study tours and conferences with a high training element) which they organise or participate in through representation or delegation. Type II awards: Awards to individuals for postgraduate studies or other training programmes, local or overseas. Method of Application Applications for Type I grants or Type II awards are invited through press advertisements in mid January every year. Applications may be returned to the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Secretariat, Room 34/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

Chater Masonic Scholarship Fund Trust

Education

The Chater Masonic Scholarship Fund Trust was established in 1929 after Sir Catchick Paul Chater (1846-1926) ’s death to honor his contributions to Freemasonry and charities in Hong Kong. Sir Paul Chater was born in Calcutta and later moved to Hong Kong. Arriving in 1864, he started a job at the Bank of Hindustan but resigned after two years to start a gold bullion exchange brokerage. In 1868, he formed another brokerage company, Chater & Mody. Later he established The Hongkong Land company, Hong Kong Electric, The Peak Tram, The Star Ferry and the Hong Kong Tramway and helped to create the world city it is today. He was knighted in 1902. Chater Garden, Chater House, Chater Road, and Catchick Street were named after him. Sir Paul Chater became a Freemason in 1873. Being a Freemason and himself being orphaned at an early age, he recognized the importance of education and practicing two of the three principles of Freemasonry, brotherly love and relief. During his life, he was always ready to help charities when approached.

Background This fund was established in 1906 when $50,000 was raised by members of the Chinese community to start a trust fund in honour of Mr. A.W. BREWIN, the then Secretary for Chinese Affairs. The Fund was reconstituted under the Brewin Trust Fund Ordinance (Cap. 1077) after the Second World War with a statutory committee and with the Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated as the Trustee of the Fund. Fund Objectives The Fund aims to provide assistance for: the maintenance and benefit of widows, widowers and orphans; and the relief of hardship of workers employed in Hong Kong who have become wholly or partly incapacitated for work by reason of age, sickness, disability or otherwise. Method of Application The Director of Social Welfare, Social Welfare Department, Wu Chung House, Wan Chai, Hong Kong receives and considers applications for miscellaneous or maintenance grants not provided for under the Public Assistance Scheme, such as grants to persons in distress, grants to the aged, handicapped or persons in ill health, allowances to residents of the Home for the Aged, and grants to disabled orphans leaving charitable institutions at the age of 18. The Commissioner for Labour, Labour Department, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong receives and considers applications for grants to employees injured in the course of employment and whose employers have failed to provide compensation. Applications may be made at any time and should be sent to the relevant address indicated above.

We have had some close encounters with the sufferings and darkness associate with the adversities of growing old while not knowing the grace of God through the salvation of Jesus Christ. Through our professional works or personal lives (as chaplains, pastors, geriatric nurses, social workers in health care, seminary students, occupational therapists, personal support workers for live-alone seniors, caregivers for aging parents and grandparents, friends of aging friends with terminal illness & various mental illnesses), we grief the lostness of our aging friends of different part of the globe who suffer in silence & alone. In Madagascar, we helped establish school vegetable gardens that provide nutritious meals and agricultural skills training for rural students. Arthub is a Shanghai based and Hong Kong registered not-for-profit platform devoted to contemporary art creation and diffusion. Arthub (born in 2007 as Arthub Asia), stemmed from the desire of exploring and experimenting with the possibilities of collaborative platforms. It took off at a time of urgency, when Chinese contemporary artistic practices had a short history of structural development and faced contradictions and problems of “translation,” especially in regards to methodologies of research within the Chinese and Asian context at large. Acting as a transcultural mediator, Arthub orchestrates collaborations between Asian and overseas artists and institutions through the production of artworks, exhibitions, publications and educational activities. In this capacity, Arthub Asia is a proxy, an experiment that aims to connect likeminded local and global creative people, pooling at the same time some degree of authority on the Asian visual art spectrum.

Managed by volunteers passionate about making a difference in the lives of under- privileged children, the chapter is very active, promoting sponsorships and raising funds to build schools and foster homes. The charity operates at grass-roots level to ensure the adequate distribution of funds. It is fully transparent about its administrative costs. Our mission is to educate, train and support children and youth in Southeast Asia ; enabling them to improve their material living conditions and to build themselves up intellectually, emotionally and morally. We go where nobody else goes, to help the poorest children and their communities. We carry out programs in remote areas, slums and with ethnic minorities. Vision and Mission: For the children and families living in harsh and impoverished conditions in Southeast Asia to come out of poverty and live with dignity.

BTP was founded in 2009 and affiliated to the "student institution incubation program" of the University of Hong Kong. Since its establishment, BTP has carried out six independent volunteer projects -- Go2Africa, Hello Neverland, SinCere, Home Kong, Into Miracle, Yonder Narnia and SAGA. BTP has made outstanding achievements in six long-term volunteer projects. For example, the Africa team was received by the vice president of Ghana; the Hainan and Sichuan project made the headlines of the local media; BTP was also selected to become a member of the "student institution incubation program" by the University of Hong Kong. Moreover, all projects are supported by the service 100 fund of HKU. Mission & Values 1. We hope to change the world with volunteer spirit through practical actions. 2.
