HASS Lab is currently part of the Hong Kong Institute of Aesthetic Education. Founded independently by visual artist Pak Sheung Chuen and cultural producer Cherry Chan in 2022, HASS Lab is a collective of artists and cross-disciplinary producers dedicated to promoting art and artist thinking as new ways of understanding and valuing society. Working with educators, social workers, and community partners, HASS Lab creates programmes that offer alternative perspectives on ability, success, and inclusion—especially for socially marginalised communities. HASS Lab’s Core Beliefs: - Creativity is a human instinct regardless of ability - Creativity is a response to conditions and constraints in a given context, and is not goal oriented - Art has the transformative power to convert negative energy into positive strengths - Visual language is an innate form of literacy that people of all abilities need to develop to better communicate and understand our increasingly image-based world
For over 25 years FOCUS has been a trusted resource for Hong Kong parents, educators and medical professionals seeking to learn how to better support the academic and social lives of children with mainstream learning differences. FOCUS aims to improve educational and life outcomes of children with AD/HD and SpLD by expanding understanding and raising awareness of what it means to have a mind that learns differently
Our mission is is to improve the education of mainstream students who are challenged by Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) by providing accurate evidence-based information, practical strategies and support to parents and professionals in education and healthcare and by improving understanding of how learning differences impact youth both emotionally and academically.
