Education Foundation for Asian and African Studies Limited, The

Education

The Education Foundation for Asian and African Studies Limited (“Foundation”) was incorporated in 2018. Our foundation focuses in advancement of education with the following objectives: Education Exchange (Communicate and Discuss) Facilitate education exchange between Hong Kong post-secondary institutions with other post-secondary colleges and universities especially from Asian and African countries. Research Programme (Academic and Scientific) Provide education programmes to facilitate students to study and research in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels especially on Asian and African studies (the research findings are disseminated to the public). Financial Support (Sponsor and Cultivate) Provide financial support such as scholarship and fellowship for eligible students to study in both local and overseas colleges and universities.

Managed by volunteers passionate about making a difference in the lives of under- privileged children, the chapter is very active, promoting sponsorships and raising funds to build schools and foster homes. The charity operates at grass-roots level to ensure the adequate distribution of funds. It is fully transparent about its administrative costs. Our mission is to educate, train and support children and youth in Southeast Asia ; enabling them to improve their material living conditions and to build themselves up intellectually, emotionally and morally. We go where nobody else goes, to help the poorest children and their communities. We carry out programs in remote areas, slums and with ethnic minorities. Vision and Mission: For the children and families living in harsh and impoverished conditions in Southeast Asia to come out of poverty and live with dignity.

The Baiwan Charity aims to improve the quality of education for children in Baiwan. With the support of Island School and other interested parties, Baiwan Charity has been upgrading the facilities for schools in Baiwan since 1998. Baiwan Charity provides scholarships and other resources for the children there. Baiwan Charity supports needy students from other rural areas of Qingyuan to continue secondary and post-secondary education.

The Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) is a regional center committed to supporting the migrant movement through advocacy, organizing and building linkages for the advancement of migrants’ rights. Established in 1984, the APMM conducts research, trainings and conferences, advocacy and lobbying side by side migrant organizations in Asia Pacific and the Middle East to defend migrants’ rights, strengthen links and solidarity among them and with their local counterparts, and address the root causes of forced migration.

The Amber Foundation is based in Hong Kong and is the charitable arm of a locally based, Canadian family with deep roots in the city. Our mission is to provide support for a variety of underserved communities in Hong Kong and across South Asia. ​ The Amber Foundation has two major projects: 1) Environmental Project: rescuing and repurposing airline kit and hotel toiletries for street sleepers, women in shelters, refugees, and the elderly in Hong Kong; and 2) EMPOWER: providing scholarships and workshops to build a business network for ethnic minority women in university.
