Every journey has a story to tell. It all started in the summer of 2011, as students back then from various disciplines at the University of Hong Kong, we joined a programme called the Migrant Outreach Education Initiative (MOEI) organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences. In the programme, we were given the opportunity to teach English to a group of Myanmar refugee / migrant children along the Thai-Burma border. While the children absorb knowledge at a speed of a sponge, we volunteers too were given a pair of new lens as we see a world beyond our privileged setting. As we all returned to Hong Kong with a heavy heart, we pondered on how we could give back to this community, a group of smiling faces who took us in almost immediately as one of them - as family. It was then we decided to use what we learnt in University, our knowledge from our respective disciplines, to pay it forward to this land we proudly called our second home. And this has become the spark of our journey. From there on sprang our School Construction programme, Playground Renovation programme, Street Law programme, Journalism Literacy programme, Medical programme and many more. Each year, University students from various disciplines through different summer voluntary programmes head to the Thai-Burma border and various cities in Myanmar to conduct workshops and projects, translating their knowledge into practical use, and along so built strong and lasting friendships with the Myanmar community. From developing programmes and projects, in the year 2017, we also began funding our first batch of Myanmar students to Universities abroad via our Scholarship Scheme - many of which we got acquainted years ago in our summer programmes as participants or members of our local partnering organisations. The journey continues as we explore what lies ahead in the next chapter - and we invite you too to join us as we dream and envision an empathetic world where everyone has the equal opportunity to realise their potentials and aspirations.

Living on less than US$0.50 per day means a daily battle for survival. The ultrapoor live in adequate, crowded shelters. They suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition. They lack access to clean water and proper sanitation making them highly prone to many types of diseases. They are particularly vulnerable to recurring natural disasters. And they lack access to networks of support that could help them. Living in ultrapoverty means living without hope for better future. ICM's initiatives are specifically designed to meet the needs of ultrapoor households.

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is a statutory body in Hong Kong. Established in May 1996, the EOC is responsible for implementing and enforcing the four anti-discrimination Ordinances. Namely, the Sex Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 480) (SDO), the Disability Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 487) (DDO) and the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 527) (FSDO), and the Race Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 602) (RDO). The EOC has duties and powers under these four anti-discrimination Ordinances. We work towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sex, breastfeeding, marital status, pregnancy, disability, family status and race. We also aim to eliminate sexual harassment, harassment on the ground of breastfeeding, as well as harassment and vilification on the grounds of disability and race. We promote equality of opportunities between men and women, between persons with and without a disability and irrespective of family status and race.

Lifeline Express Hong Kong Foundation is a registered charitable organization (IRD File No: 91/4895) established in 1997 in Hong Kong, to raise funds to support the operation of the Lifeline Express. Lifeline Express is a well-equipped hospital eye-train, aiming to provide free operations for the underprivileged cataract patients in Mainland China. This purpose-built four compartments eye-train consists of an Examination Room, two Operating Theatres, a Patient Ward, a Multi-function Conference Room and a Living Quarter for medical team. In July 1, 1997, the first hospital eye-train embarked on its mission of light to Fuyang City, Auhui Province, China. In 1999, 2002 and 2009 the second, third and fourth hospital eye-trains come into service.

ABWFHK is a registered non-governmental organization with charitable status in Hong Kong. Our Vision & Mission To reach out to the underprivileged women and share the Good News of Jesus Christ and help them in their practical needs by teaching them the skills. What We Do ABWFHK works to enhance the self-esteem of women and to love them without any prejudices against national, cultural and social status. We create an opportunity for women joining together as a community and share the gospel.

The Baiwan Charity aims to improve the quality of education for children in Baiwan. With the support of Island School and other interested parties, Baiwan Charity has been upgrading the facilities for schools in Baiwan since 1998. Baiwan Charity provides scholarships and other resources for the children there. Baiwan Charity supports needy students from other rural areas of Qingyuan to continue secondary and post-secondary education.

The Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) conducts activities and programs that empower grassroots migrants in Asia, Pacific and Middle East regions to promote their dignity, wellbeing and rights. It does this by: 1. Establishing and strengthening community organisations of migrants for mutual support, community programs and harnessing of the collective thrusts, will and actions of migrants; 2. Generating and disseminating knowledge and information to heighten awareness of migrants as individuals and communities for their informed actions; 3. Providing skills training to enable migrants to sustain independent, self-governing and responsive organisations to the needs of migrants including both their individual betterment and community wellbeing; 4. Developing sympathy and support for migrants from among the legal, medical, academic, service and faith communities; 5. Promoting solidarity of migrants from across sectors and countries within the region for mutual learning, support, and partnerships. The regional office of the APMM is based in Hong Kong with program and project staff in other countries in the region. APMM has partners in 14 countries and territories (Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Macau SAR, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Qatar, South Korea, Taiwan ROC, and Thailand) where localised activities and programs are conducted). Additionally, APMM does secretariat and coordination work for bigger formations as International Migrants Alliance (IMA), Alliance of Marriage Migrants Organisations for Rights and Empowerment (AMMORE), and the Interfaith Network for the Rights of Migrants (INFORM). APMM is governed by the APMM Board of Directors that has members from among the migrant communities, service organisations, academe and the legal profession.

Managed by volunteers passionate about making a difference in the lives of under- privileged children, the chapter is very active, promoting sponsorships and raising funds to build schools and foster homes. The charity operates at grass-roots level to ensure the adequate distribution of funds. It is fully transparent about its administrative costs. Our mission is to educate, train and support children and youth in Southeast Asia ; enabling them to improve their material living conditions and to build themselves up intellectually, emotionally and morally. We go where nobody else goes, to help the poorest children and their communities. We carry out programs in remote areas, slums and with ethnic minorities. Vision and Mission: For the children and families living in harsh and impoverished conditions in Southeast Asia to come out of poverty and live with dignity.
