Human ServicesThe Mission for Migrant Workers (MFMW Limited) of St. John’s Cathedral is a leading and trusted service provider for Asian migrant workers, and a committed advocate in building a caring and inclusive Hong Kong society. Established in 1981, MFMW is the longest existing independent service provider for migrant workers in Hong Kong and Asia. It is an outreach program of the St. John’s Cathedral of HK Sheng Kung Hui (Anglican). It is a registered charitable organization with a board comprising of 11 members from a variety of background, including churches, the legal profession, and grassroot migrant association. The board oversees the operation of MFMW and meets once every quarter. MFMW’s services are for the more than 380,000 foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong. Of this number, 98% are women who come from the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other under-developed countries in Asia. A lot of them are under-paid, over-worked, trapped in the vicious cycle of debt and discrimination, or are victims of physical and sexual abuse. MFMW’s core services include provision of information and guidance, case support, shelter provision and other rescue and emergency assistance to distressed foreign domestic workers. MFMW, as a pioneer service provider and advocate for migrants, is instrumental in building the support base for migrant workers in Hong Kong.

Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, The
HealthFounded in 1954, The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong (MHAHK) is a non-profit social service organization with the goal of educating the public on mental health. The Association started direct service operation in 1967 and since then, has developed a comprehensive spectrum of rehabilitation services in the community, including residential care, community support, day training, vocational rehabilitation, employment support and special education, providing holistic care for persons in recovery, persons with intellectual disabilities and the disadvantaged. MHAHK currently operates over 50 subvented welfare service units / projects serving over tens of thousands of service users. The Association also manages self-financed supported apartment for persons in recovery, a non-profit training and counselling centre, a special school with boarding places for students with severe mental intellectual disabilities and multiple handicaps, a social enterprise operating over 30 SE projects, and a training institute providing long-term consultation and supervision to mental health projects in the Mainland and the Greater Bay Area.

Maggie’s Centre is based in Tuen Mun Hospital, within walking distance from its oncology department. All of Maggie’s services are offered free of charge. When visitors walk through the door, they are greeted by our cancer support specialists, who will listen, answer questions and talk through the elements of Maggie’s Cancer Support Programme, assessing which programme is suitable for them personally. Our aim is to help people equip themselves with effective ways to face and cope with cancer diagnosis, treatments, and psychological, informational, and emotional impacts of cancer. The welcoming, home like environment of our Centre is part of the Maggie’s integrated ethos. The comfortable setting allows you to be yourself, not a hospital patient.
