Environment and Animals
Hong Kong Rabbit Society Limited
Environment and AnimalsHong Kong Rabbit Society (HKRS) was founded in January 2003 becoming a registered charitable organization under Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's recognition by March 2006. Every year many animals are abandoned by their owners; particularly rabbits who are the third most neglected pet after cats and dogs. Since there are no government subsidies, we rely completely on donations and support from the public to be able to continue our effort on behalf of neglected or abandoned animals. Additionally we are the only organization committed to helping rabbits in the region. Your kindness, time and financial support help us to continue to promote our work and raise awareness in animal protection.

Go Green Hong Kong
Environment and AnimalsThe mission of Water for Free is to share and communicate with the public the issues regarding water fountains, raising awareness and promoting its use in order to reduce plastic waste. We realize the insufficiency and inadequacy of the provision of water fountains in Hong Kong. That’s why we need to amplify our voice so that the public and the authority will pay more attention to the issue. Plastic waste does not only fill up our landfills, it also spills into the seas and mountains, posing great threats to wildlife. According to 2015 figure, 136 tonnes of PET bottle waste was dumped in Hong Kong, which could be converted to about 5 million beverage bottles! How does it get so devastating? Bottled water, cheap and expensive alike, have been marketed extensively throughout the city. While we already have high quality tap water, why spend a thousand time more on bottled water and creating unnecessary waste?

Hong Kong Dog Rescue Limited
Environment and AnimalsHKDR was founded in 2003 for the specific purpose of saving dogs and puppies from the Hong Kong Government’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) Animal Management Centres, where around 10,000 dogs and puppies are destroyed every year. A lot them of were family pets that have been abandoned on the street or in country parks, while others have been directly surrendered. Many are puppies that are the result of irresponsible owners not desexing their pets, or are those born to abandoned or stray dogs. They all have one thing in common and that is that they are homeless and unwanted, and have just four days to live unless they are chosen for re-homing. HKDR is funded solely by private donations, sponsorship through the Life Saver Club programme, the sale of HKDR merchandise and fundraising events. All of the dogs and puppies that HKDR take in for re-homing are health checked, vaccinated, given flea, tick and heartworm prevention and de-sexed. Those who require additional veterinary treatment or surgery are given the best available. Dogs with behaviour problems are rehabilitated using Positive Reinforcement training methods to make them ready for adoption. HKDR relies heavily on the time and efforts of dedicated volunteers to be able to operate and many of the important functions of the organisation are handled solely by such volunteers, such as our Foster and Life Saver Club programmes, and even the Volunteer Coordination itself. HKDR is proud to be a No Kill Organisation, meaning that no dog under our care will be euthanised for any reason other than when it is the only humane option.

Plastic Oceans Limited
EducationA Plastic Ocean Foundation is a charitable organisation registered in Hong Kong, dedicated to creating a wave of change to stop plastic pollution and to be part of the solution through science, education and policy advocacy. We are a group of dedicated scientists, educators, social entrepreneurs, scholars and journalists who are concerned about the fragile state of our ocean and are working together with other NGOs and the community to change attitudes towards plastic in one generation. We are also the people that brought you the award winning feature-length documentary A Plastic Ocean, which has reached millions of viewers around the world and continues to astonish and move people to action each day. Our Philosophy: A Plastic Ocean Foundation is not an anti-plastic organisation. We agree plastic is an amazing product; versatile, cheap, light, and it saves a lot of lives too - think of plastics used in medicine! It’s how we dispose of plastic that is causing the problem. Our addiction to plastic and our ‘disposable’ lifestyle are now starting to pose a threat to the survival of marine species, as well as ourselves! Please remember plastic does not degrade, or decompose. It is virtually indestructible and while you can throw it away, you cannot get rid of it. It stays with us forever.

HK Shark Foundation Limited
Environment and AnimalsHong Kong Shark Foundation (HKSF) is a registered charity dedicated exclusively to shark conservation. We aim to raise awareness about shark conservation, particularly the unsustainable practice of shark finning, and to reduce consumption of shark products in Hong Kong. Every year, at least 100 million sharks are caught worldwide for shark fins and other products, with over 50% of the world’s shark fin being traded through Hong Kong alone. As apex predators, sharks are a crucial part of the marine food chain. The demand for shark products has contributed to the rapid decline of many species, with several already nearing extinction. Removing sharks from our oceans will threaten the delicate balance of ecosystems that are valuable sources of food and key elements in regulating our climate. Oceans absorb carbon, generate oxygen and are essential to our survival on the planet. HKSF believes this a rare opportunity for people everywhere, especially in Hong Kong, to make a significant impact on a global scale. Please act now by helping raising awareness about shark conservation and by educating people to reduce the consumption of shark products globally to save the world’s sharks
