FutureGenerations/CHINA Limited
Environment and AnimalsPublic and Societal BenefitFuture Generations promotes community-led development in partnership with government as a proven, alternative path to improving people’s lives and places. The core of Future Generations work is a system that communities and governments can use to shape their futures. This system can create large nature preserves, rapid social change, extend health services, or help countries rebound from conflict. Future Generations China has been committed to environmental protection in China since our founder helped establish a protected area around Mt. Everest in 1989. Much of our work involving communities that border national nature preserves is endorsed by Chinese president, Hu Jintao. We envision a world where humans and nature co-exist with one another in harmony, and with balance between development and protection. Future Generations China focuses on fragile ecosystems that are of great ecological significance.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) Trustees Incorporated
Environment and AnimalsThe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was first formed by a group of volunteers in 1903 and became active in 1921. Although we are the first charity in Hong Kong to deal with all aspects of animal welfare, we obtain around only 1% of our funding from the government. The rest of our funding comes from the generosity of the general public, for which we are extremely grateful. It is a constant challenge to raise the funds necessary to continue our work. We believe that animals are living creatures which like humans, are able to feel pain, hunger and thirst. We should not inflict any suffering upon our fellow creatures just because they can't speak.

Every year many animals are abandoned by their owners; particularly rabbits who are the third most neglected pet after cats and dogs. Since there are no government subsidies, we rely completely on donations and support from the public to be able to continue our effort on behalf of neglected or abandoned animals. Able Charity Limited
Environment and AnimalsABLE Charity first came together back in 1993 as a Grassroots environmental action group. It was founded as a direct consequence from a lack of protection and a voice, for Lamma’s environment. A campaign was launched to stop the reclamation of a beautiful beach on the island which resulted in a success story that led to the official registration of the group as a charity with the Hong Kong government where it remains so to this very day. The charity has had a colourful history with a considerable amount of success, yet has always chosen to keep a low profile in the grand scheme of things to just get on with it. The Vision The Lamma Forest is a natural resource for all generations present and future, one whose value will increase in the years to come. The land currently has no adequate protection so the vision is to rezone the land into a Conservation Area (CA) thereby safe guarding it for the future. The Lamma Forest is a gift for one and all to enjoy. Our Mission We want to raise awareness about a fundamental integral link between people and ecology. They are one and the same, yet our modern lifestyle inadvertently separated as well as distanced humans from their environments. This has had serious consequences which have become quite obvious today, but less so in the early 1990’s of Hong Kong. Leading ABLE charity to be assume the responsibility of implementing change through direct action and by setting examples that inspire change in the behaviour, lifestyles and habits of people.

Consumers Acting For People And The Environment Limited
Environment and AnimalsPublic and Societal BenefitConsumers Acting for People and the Environment Limited (CAPE) is a non-profit organization that was established in 2003. In 2005, CAPE gained charitable status and has been tax-exempt under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Hong Kong). We are the first NGO in Hong Kong to emphasize the role of consumers in acting for environmental issues. While generally regarded as a green group, we define ourselves as a grassroots group that focuses on how modern consumption patterns have detrimental effects on the environment and on the lives of both modern and tribal peoples. The world is full of living beings of which the human race is only one species. However, our daily consumption exploits nature. Indigenous and traditional cultures recognize that they are but a part of a community of plant, animal, and spirit beings, and live in harmony with the land and the complex ecological systems upon which they depend. Our mission is to build a sense of responsibility and stewardship, thus shifting behavior towards responsible consumption.

Cats in Hope Charitable Foundation Limited
Environment and AnimalsFounded in 2015, Cats in Hope Charitable Foundation Limited began by taking care of local stray cats and later expanded its services to perform sterilization. The increasing number of homeless stray cats, exacerbated by government land resumptions displacing their habitats, has led to a rise in abuse and attacks. To address this urgent need, our dedicated volunteers established a shelter, providing a safe haven for these vulnerable animals while they await loving homes. With the growing demand for our rescue services, the financial burden of food and medical care has also increased. Community support is now more critical than ever to help us save more lives and improve stray cat welfare. To date, we have rescued over a thousand stray cats, and currently provide shelter for over a hundred. Beyond the challenges posed by land resumptions, Cats in Hope also addresses the consequences of human actions, such as abandonment, neglect, and the dumping of cats by breeding farms. Recognizing the need for greater public awareness regarding responsible pet ownership and the long-standing neglect of community stray animal issues, we actively promote responsible breeding practices. Through various activities, sharing sessions, and collaborations with diverse organizations, Cats in Hope strives to create a harmonious community where animals and humans can coexist peacefully.
