We are a group of individuals who care about the growing up of young people in China and in Hong Kong. We have no political nor religious affiliations. Most of us live in Hong Kong but since we registered ourselves as a charity in 2003, an increasing number of us have come from Taiwan, Singapore, England, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece, Bermuda and the Mainland. Many of us take part in ensuring that our services reached those we aimed to serve. Many more of us help spread our message. We see those we helped as our equals. We see them as people who require temporary assistance and who lack some guidance only. Once they overcome their difficulties , they will shine, more so than ever. We see ourselves as those who are privileged to have been tasked with the mission of providing help. We are humbled by the experiences we gained in the process. Our work is done not for financial gains. It is done simply because we care. We believe we can all do something. Mission - To provide educational assistance and services to students in rural China - To enable young people in Hong Kong to understand themselves and their country; - To serve and to learn with pride.

For the past three decades, members of the Zonta Club of the New Territories have pledged to work as one to serve the community. We have supported and actively participated in a wide spectrum of social services, targeting in particular for women, then elderly, the young, the underprivileged and the handicapped. Some of these projects have been pursued consecutively for several years; at the same time new projects are being identified and undertaken each year. In recent years, our work has also extended to promoting environmental protection.

Core objectives of our club are to enhance women status via services and advocacy. We believe by joining hands and providing our limited time and humble selves to serve the less fortunate in the community, we can find more meanings in our lives.

The Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust) is part of the wider Swire group, which was established in 1816 and began its Chinese Mainland operations in 1866. Swire Trust was established in 1983 as the philanthropic arm of Swire Pacific Limited. The Trust receives annual income from companies in the Swire group in Hong Kong based on a percentage of Swire Pacific Limited’s profit. This Fund was created with an initial donation of $1 million by Sir Shiu-kin Tang to commemorate Sir Robert Black's governorship. The Fund is managed by a Statutory Committee set up under the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Ordinance (Cap. 1101). Fund Objectives The Fund aims to provide - Type I grants: Grants to social welfare or youth organisations and other suitable institutions in support of local or overseas development programmes (e.g. leadership training courses, study tours and conferences with a high training element) which they organise or participate in through representation or delegation. Type II awards: Awards to individuals for postgraduate studies or other training programmes, local or overseas. Method of Application Applications for Type I grants or Type II awards are invited through press advertisements in mid January every year. To realize our commitment to building a brighter future for the next generation, we established the Crowe Horwath (HK) Education Trust to promote educational initiatives in Hong Kong and China. Our aim is to make contributions to educational causes for the less fortunate younger generations. We aim to contribute by constructing and maintaining schools in remote areas of China to give the underprivileged children a chance to receive education, as we believe it is an inherent right for our next generation to be educated. We will provide financial support in forms of scholarships, grants and allowances to students in need to advance their studies. We also promote, organize and sponsor educational and charitable activities to raise the educational level of people in Hong Kong and China.

Chater Masonic Scholarship Fund Trust

The Chater Masonic Scholarship Fund Trust was established in 1929 after Sir Catchick Paul Chater (1846-1926) ’s death to honor his contributions to Freemasonry and charities in Hong Kong. Sir Paul Chater was born in Calcutta and later moved to Hong Kong. Arriving in 1864, he started a job at the Bank of Hindustan but resigned after two years to start a gold bullion exchange brokerage. In 1868, he formed another brokerage company, Chater & Mody. Later he established The Hongkong Land company, Hong Kong Electric, The Peak Tram, The Star Ferry and the Hong Kong Tramway and helped to create the world city it is today. He was knighted in 1902. Chater Garden, Chater House, Chater Road, and Catchick Street were named after him. Sir Paul Chater became a Freemason in 1873. Being a Freemason and himself being orphaned at an early age, he recognized the importance of education and practicing two of the three principles of Freemasonry, brotherly love and relief. During his life, he was always ready to help charities when approached.

Background This fund was established in 1906 when $50,000 was raised by members of the Chinese community to start a trust fund in honour of Mr. A.W. BREWIN, the then Secretary for Chinese Affairs. The Fund was reconstituted under the Brewin Trust Fund Ordinance (Cap. 1077) after the Second World War with a statutory committee and with the Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated as the Trustee of the Fund. Fund Objectives The Fund aims to provide assistance for: the maintenance and benefit of widows, widowers and orphans; and the relief of hardship of workers employed in Hong Kong who have become wholly or partly incapacitated for work by reason of age, sickness, disability or otherwise. Method of Application The Director of Social Welfare, Social Welfare Department, Wu Chung House, Wan Chai, Hong Kong receives and considers applications for miscellaneous or maintenance grants not provided for under the Public Assistance Scheme, such as grants to persons in distress, grants to the aged, handicapped or persons in ill health, allowances to residents of the Home for the Aged, and grants to disabled orphans leaving charitable institutions at the age of 18. The Commissioner for Labour, Labour Department, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong receives and considers applications for grants to employees injured in the course of employment and whose employers have failed to provide compensation. Applications may be made at any time and should be sent to the relevant address indicated above.

In 1999, the 50th Anniversary of the Asia andPacific Alliance of YMCAs, formerly known as Asia Alliance of YMCAs, was celebrated with the launching an Endowment Fund - 'The Golden Anniversary Trust Fund". The Fund was a concerted effort to raise funds needed to support the movement's programs and projects aimed at improving the quality of live of the peoples and the spirit of self-reliance in the region irrespective of their race, caste and religion.
