Assistive and Learning Technology Association Limited was established in 2014. It consists of members from different professionals who promote the use of assistive and learning technology. Through different community education, let the public understand assistive and learning technology, and enable the community to make good use of assistive technology (AT) and learning technology (LT) to improve the quality of life. The association officially became a charity Ref. 91/14193 in 2015.
Our Goals
- Promote the use of Assistive and Learning Technology by society, schools, institutions, families and individuals.
- Research and development of applied technology to promote learning and help people with special needs.
- Raise public awareness and share knowledge on assisting and learning the latest developments in technology.
- Promote cooperation in the development of assistive science and technology related to rehabilitation for the special learning needs of regional peers.
- Promote collaboration between academics, schools, non-governmental organizations, medical and rehabilitation institutions and the public on the use of assistive and learning technologies.
For over 25 years FOCUS has been a trusted resource for Hong Kong parents, educators and medical professionals seeking to learn how to better support the academic and social lives of children with mainstream learning differences. FOCUS aims to improve educational and life outcomes of children with AD/HD and SpLD by expanding understanding and raising awareness of what it means to have a mind that learns differently
Our mission is is to improve the education of mainstream students who are challenged by Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) by providing accurate evidence-based information, practical strategies and support to parents and professionals in education and healthcare and by improving understanding of how learning differences impact youth both emotionally and academically.
