EducationFrom Compassion to Inception In 1994 our founders came in contact with children living in remote villages. Seeing these children could not afford schooling due to abject poverty they had compassion for them. They started a fund drive and were able to support 10 children at that time. We are currently sponsoring 150-200 poor students each year. From Caring to Pioneering New Services During home visitations we found students and their families are ignorant of health and hygiene knowledge which make children vulnerable to health hazards. Such awareness led us to care for their medical and health care needs. In another front, to keep pace with the nations rapid urbanization we extend our student subsidy services to migrant students through partnership with a school. Through such subsidy services we are able care for migrant families AT RISK. Expectations It is our hope that when these children have grown up and became productive members in society that they will care for the poor such as giving financial aids to poor students. We hope they are willing to share with others even though they may not have enough for themselves..

Human ServicesGoods Co-Share purchases daily necessities from suppliers in bulk volume and enjoys significant saving in transaction cost. Those items are then sold to grassroots families at a lower-than-market price, bringing about a reduction in their cost of living. In partnership with NGOs, Goods Co-Share will set up pop-up stalls periodically in districts with a high poverty rate. Grassroots housewives will be employed to manage the stalls. Apart from offering food items, gathering sessions will also be held regularly to share with customers knowledge about financial management. Alternative shopping channels are offered through eight vending machines which will operate up to 12 hours every day at communal facilities, offering dry goods and liquid-based non-food items.

The Fund’s administrative expenses are borne by its largest corporate partner, Giordano, and funds are raised through its own fundraising activities as well as the support and donations from Giordano employees, its business partners and the community at large. The WWS Charitable Fund allocates funds raised to make a difference for people in need. Past projects have ranged from primary education initiatives involving the printing and distribution of educational materials and stationery, helping remote villages in rural China to achieve sustainable development, supporting local ethnic minority students, meal tickets for the underprivileged, supporting orphans and children with disabilities all the way through to rapid response to individuals who have found themselves in emergency financial crisis for which other sources of help may not be available.
