Church Body of The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui
Human ServicesSheng Kung Hui(聖公會)literally means "Holy Catholic Church" in Chinese. It was the Chinese name used in the Church since mid-nineteenth century when the British Anglican and the American Episcopalian missionaries first came to China. The same Chinese characters (聖公會)are also used in the Anglican Church of Korea, the Nippon Sei Ko Kai in Japan and other Chinese Anglican and Episcopal churches in the region. Sheng Kung Hui had been rooting in Hong Kong for almost 170 years. The first presence of the Anglican Church in Hong Kong began with the appointment of The Revd. Vincent Stanton as Colonial Chaplain in 1843. After several years of planning and construction, St. John's Cathedral was founded in 1849, and St. Paul's College was established in 1851, as one of the oldest secondary school in the territory. In 1849, the Diocese of Victoria was created by Royal Letters Patent. The Rt. Revd. George Smith was appointed the first bishop in Hong Kong. Bishop Smith had a clear vision in the ministry of the local Chinese under his jurisdiction. St. Stephen's Church, the first Chinese Anglican Church in Hong Kong, was founded in 1865.

Hong Kong Dog Rescue Limited
Environment and AnimalsHKDR was founded in 2003 for the specific purpose of saving dogs and puppies from the Hong Kong Government’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) Animal Management Centres, where around 10,000 dogs and puppies are destroyed every year. A lot them of were family pets that have been abandoned on the street or in country parks, while others have been directly surrendered. Many are puppies that are the result of irresponsible owners not desexing their pets, or are those born to abandoned or stray dogs. They all have one thing in common and that is that they are homeless and unwanted, and have just four days to live unless they are chosen for re-homing. HKDR is funded solely by private donations, sponsorship through the Life Saver Club programme, the sale of HKDR merchandise and fundraising events. All of the dogs and puppies that HKDR take in for re-homing are health checked, vaccinated, given flea, tick and heartworm prevention and de-sexed. Those who require additional veterinary treatment or surgery are given the best available. Dogs with behaviour problems are rehabilitated using Positive Reinforcement training methods to make them ready for adoption. HKDR relies heavily on the time and efforts of dedicated volunteers to be able to operate and many of the important functions of the organisation are handled solely by such volunteers, such as our Foster and Life Saver Club programmes, and even the Volunteer Coordination itself. HKDR is proud to be a No Kill Organisation, meaning that no dog under our care will be euthanised for any reason other than when it is the only humane option.
